Highlighting the Interdisciplinary Nature of Cybersecurity
Explore how cybersecurity connects with a wide variety of disciplines!
In this fast-paced, digital age, nearly everything we do is connected to a computer and the internet, including our communications, our entertainment, transportation, shopping, banking, and even our medical histories and prescriptions. Cybersecurity impacts all these areas and more. Cybersecurity is not a monolithic entity; it is interdisciplinary in nature, impacting multiple domains. Convergence is learning driven by compelling or complex problems, where learners apply knowledge and skills in a blended approach integrated across multiple disciplines to create and innovate new solutions.
CyberSnacks are mini-challenges or quick hands-on activities that educators can use to introduce a topic or highlight the connection between cybersecurity and other disciplines. Each activity uses inexpensive, easily available materials, offers detailed instruction and images, provides a clear explanation of the topic and the connection with cybersecurity, and is adaptable to a wide range of topics, content areas, grade levels, and settings. Unplugged versions are available for each digital activity.
